About Your Equipment

All gear should be synthetic or wool, never cotton. Kodiak’s mountain goat hunts typically range from 30–45°F, but temperatures can shift quickly. Our marine climate means cool, moist air is constant, no matter where you are on the island. A proper layering system is critical to staying warm, dry, and safe.

Below you’ll find the essential items you should bring, along with example products. These examples are simply guides — you’re welcome to choose any brand with similar quality and performance.
